West Ham squandered the fourth victory, and Slimani’s double leads Lyon to the European League final

West Ham United dropped points for the first time in the European Football League this season after Tomas Sucic scored an own goal to draw 2-2 at the Belgian stadium Genk, and deprived the English club of its fourth win in a row in Group H on Thursday.

It seemed that Algerian Said Benrahma’s double in the second half ensured that West Ham qualified for the final price of the tournament, two games before the end of the group stage, but Sucek’s attempt to eliminate the danger on his team’s goal with a header overtook his colleague Alphonse Areola and scored in the 87th minute.

The London club is still certain of continuing its European campaign in the new year, as it leads the group with 10 points from 4 matches.

Genk has 4 points, equal with Rapid Vienna and Dinamo Zagreb before meeting them later today.

If Rapid or Dynamo win the match, West Ham will advance to the knockout stage.

Lyon qualified

Olympic Lyon booked its place in the final price after beating Sparta Prague 3-0, to achieve its fourth victory in a row in the first group.

Algerian Islam Slimani scored two goals for the French club, which is now the only team in the competition that has not missed a point.
