Ancelotti: An unhappy Hazard will get his chance and Wales will evaluate Gareth Bale

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said on Friday that Eden Hazard is not happy to be on the bench and deserves to play, but the Belgium international cannot guarantee a place in the starting lineup.

Hazard, 30, participated as a substitute in the last 8 matches, which frustrated the former Chelsea striker, who joined Real Madrid for 120 million euros ($138 million) in June 2019.

Hazard is unhappy at Real Madrid

“Hazard is not happy. He has talent, he trains well, he is fully committed, and he deserves to play,” Ancelotti said in a press conference before facing Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish Football League on Saturday.

Real Madrid is second in the league standings with 24 points, one point behind Real Sociedad, but has played less game, while Rayo is sixth with 20 points.

The Italian coach added, “Hazard will participate in a few minutes and from the beginning I will think about it. If he maintains his confidence, he will have a chance, it could be tomorrow or not, the important thing is that he is active and committed.”

“I feel his suffering because it is easy to leave a non-professional player on the bench, but this player is not his case.”

Gareth Bale’s position

Striker Gareth Bale returned to training after a two-month absence due to a hamstring injury, and he will not join the squad against Rayo, but the 32-year-old has been called up to participate with the Wales national team.

“Bale trained today but will not play against Rayo,” Ancelotti said. “He will join the national team, and they will assess his condition and his ability to play, and that depends on how well the player feels about his readiness.”
