US appeals court confirms blocking Biden’s order on mandatory vaccination against Corona

A US appeals court confirmed – Friday – its decision to suspend an order issued by President Joe Biden to compel companies that employ more than 100 people to be vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus, rejecting an appeal by his administration.

The ruling was upheld by the New Orleans Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, although the Biden administration said on Monday that a stay of the order could lead to the deaths of dozens or even hundreds of workers.

Private companies, religious organizations and US states have sued the government, saying it overstepped its authority through a presidential order to mandate vaccination.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued this order, which states that companies with 100 or more employees must vaccinate them against Covid-19, or that they be tested weekly and put on masks.

This decision affects about 80 million people, and will be added to other measures imposed on employees of federal institutions, and new measures imposed on workers in hospitals that receive federal health care compensation.
