Al Jazeera denounces the arrest of its bureau chief in Sudan and calls on the military authorities to stop intimidating its reporters
Al-Jazeera network condemned the arrest of its office manager in Khartoum, Al-Muslim Al-Kabbashi, and demanded his immediate release, holding the military authorities responsible for the safety of all its crews in Sudan.
“We condemn the arrest of the director of our office in Sudan, and we call on the military authorities to release him immediately,” the network said in a statement.
“We hold the authorities fully responsible for the safety of all our employees working in Sudan,” the statement added.
Al Jazeera called on the military authorities in Sudan to allow “our journalists to perform their duties without intimidation.”
A security force raided the home of fellow Muslim Al-Kabbashi this morning, Saturday, and arrested him.
