For the fourth year in a row, “Great Place to Work” has included the most employee-friendly system houses in a special category as part of the “Best Employer in ICT” competition. Seven IT service providers have received this rating.
System houses often find it difficult to fill vacancies. The job at a system house is more challenging and varied than anywhere else. Because while one is often degraded to a mere vicarious agent at a user company and is often specialized in becoming an “idiot” at an IT provider, as an employee of a system house one is guaranteed never to get bored. Every IT project of a customer runs differently and there are always diverse tasks to be solved.
A system house employee has to adapt to new customer requirements every time. There is simply no risk of being under-challenged or getting bored quickly. Because every customer “thinks” differently, and even if the IT departments there are often similar, the users themselves do not. Their tasks often differ greatly from one another – depending on the industry. The everyday life of a user at an automotive supplier is diametrically opposed to that of a teacher, the administrative clerk in an authority has completely different ideas about his everyday work than the sales representative for an insurance company.
This is why system house employees are often subject to high demands in terms of flexibility. Those who long for a regular nine-to-five job are often out of place. But if you want to make a career and develop personally every day, you should hire an IT service provider rather than the development department of an IT provider or the user support of a user company.
As part of the “Great Place to Work 2021” competition, we separately honored the seven most employee-friendly IT service providers in the “System Houses” category.
