The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on the forces that lost the Iraqi legislative elections to accept defeat, and not to disturb the country’s democratic path, while the presidents, ministers and the judiciary said that they intend to put forward a national initiative to solve the current political crisis, represented by the rejection of the election results by many parties and forces. its integrity.
Al-Sadr said yesterday, Thursday, at a press conference in the southern city of Najaf, that he adheres to the option of forming a national majority government, not a coalition government, adding, “Our only option is either a national majority government, or a national opposition.”
The political leader directed his opponents who lost the elections, which took place last month, by saying, “Your loss should not be a prelude to ending and ruining the democratic process.”
In the elections, the Sadrist movement won more than 70 seats in the House of Representatives out of 329. On the other hand, the electoral results of the Al-Fateh Alliance, which is close to Tehran, declined sharply, as it won only 15 seats after winning the previous elections of 2018 with 48 seats and ranked second.
