Outbrain takes over contextual advertising specialists Video Intelligence

“Video Intelligence fits in perfectly with Outbrain’s strategy of providing media owners with technology that enables them to improve user engagement and monetization through relevant content and advertising,” said David Kostman, Co-CEO of Outbrain. “The merger with Video Intelligence will enable us to offer mid- and top-of-article video solutions, thereby deepening our partnership with media owners. It will also expand our addressable market by providing brands with high quality in-stream video inventory. We see significant synergies between our companies and are excited to welcome the incredibly talented and experienced video intelligence team to Outbrain, ”added Yaron Galai, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Outbrain.

Video Intelligence, founded in Zurich in 2017, uses its contextual video platform to connect publishers and advertisers on the basis of content characteristics for video advertising. The contextual video player from Video Intelligence is installed on over 1,000 websites worldwide and plays video advertisements that match the environment. In addition, the company recently entered the CTV area with a contextual offering and is working with several providers there.

Outbrain in turn operates a technology platform for matchmaking in native advertising. The company is thus an intermediary between advertisers and publishers and enables the integration of native advertising and content recommendations in the editorial environment. Accordingly, Video Intelligence is a perfect match for Outbrain.

“We are delighted to be joining Outbrain and becoming an important part of the platform,” said Kai Henniges, co-founder and CEO of Video Intelligence, on the takeover. “Our many years of video expertise and our unique offer for publishers and CTV providers are a perfect complement to Outbrain’s market position and high-quality global media partnerships. By offering contextually appropriate videos, we will jointly advance our mission to inspire, inform and entertain users. We believe that our corporate cultures are a great fit and that we share the same vision about the future of the media. “
