Investigations against a member of the ZDF television council

The public prosecutor in Erfurt is investigating Hugo Diederich on suspicion of embezzling club funds.

According to a report by the news portal “t-online”, the public prosecutor’s office in Erfurt is conducting criminal investigations against a ZDF television council. The chairman of the Association of Victims of Stalinism, Hugo Diederich, is suspected of having embezzled association funds, the portal reported on Sunday in Berlin. As a delegate from the Association of Victims of Stalinism, Diederich is a member of the ZDF television council. The criminal complaint is directed against two accused. Diederich himself and the board of the association did not comment on the investigation. Diederich has been a member of the ZDF television council since 2005, including the committee for finances, investments and technology, which advises on the broadcaster’s budget and annual financial statements. He was sent there by the Association of Victims of Stalinism. According to information from “t-online”, the investigations have been going on for around three months. In Berlin, investigations into the suspicion that the association’s board had not properly paid social security contributions for employees had been suspended.
