Video- Underground greenhouse .. Real Madrid borrows a quarter of a billion dollars to develop the Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid, the Spanish football club, has obtained an additional loan of 225 million euros, in order to start a new phase of the redesign of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, which will see the construction of an underground greenhouse.

Real Madrid had initially confirmed its plans to make changes to the stadium 4 years ago, as it wants to increase the capacity of the stadium by 4,000 fans, bringing the total to 85,000 spectators, and has also made clear its plans to include a retractable roof and pitch.

Construction work began in 2020 during the pause amid the first months of the spread of the new Corona virus, and Real Madrid played its matches at Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium, the team’s training center, when the 2020-2021 season resumed.

The new Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid returned to play at the Santiago Bernabeu in September/Last September of this year, but a lot of work was not finished yet, while the club confirmed the addition of a new stage of business.

The greenhouse will ensure the integrity of the playing field and that it remains in good condition even if it is towed.

Speaking about the details of the loan and its use, a club statement said, “The financing will be used to construct an underground greenhouse that was not included in the plan for the initial stage of work due to difficulties that were resolved technologically at a later time.”

He added, “This greenhouse will allow the automatic removal of the pitch and maintain it well so that it can be used in football matches, and thus other events can be held without increasing the impact on the pitch.”
