Mauritania and Kuwait

In the Arab world, the Mauritanian presidency announced that President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazwani was infected with the Corona virus, after he showed mild symptoms.

The Mauritanian presidency said – in a statement – that Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazwani had conducted medical examinations, and the results of the examination showed that he was infected with Covid-19. The presidency statement did not indicate whether the infection was related to the new mutant, Omicron.

In Kuwait, the Kuwaiti Cabinet announced yesterday, Monday, a temporary ban on holding social events in closed places, from next Sunday until February 28, with the aim of confronting the outbreak of the mutant Omicron.

And the Government Communication Center stated – in a statement – that the Council of Ministers will review the decision in light of the epidemiological situation at the time.

The statement stated that the Council of Ministers decided to compel all those coming to the country to conduct a “PCR” (PCR) examination 72 hours before arrival, stating that they are free of infection with the Corona virus, as of today, Tuesday.
