Missile bombing on a base housing American soldiers at Baghdad airport

reported Iraqi media, early in the morning, Wednesday, targeted Baghdad International Airport with four Katyusha rockets, which were launched from the Jihad neighborhood adjacent to the airport, without giving details of the outcome of the attack.

And local media said that the missiles targeted the Victoria base, which includes US soldiers at Baghdad airport, where sirens sounded, and helicopters flew in the area southwest of the capital.

Two days ago, an Iraqi security source stated that the defense systems had thwarted an attack by two drones on the diplomatic area at Baghdad Airport, coinciding with the commemoration of the second anniversary of the assassination of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, and the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani.

On Monday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi vowed to avenge Soleimani’s death unless former US President Donald Trump is tried.

For days, the Popular Mobilization Forces – which is made up of several factions loyal to most of them to Iran – have been holding celebrations on the second anniversary of the assassination of Muhandis and Soleimani.
