A match without a goalkeeper.. the latest innovations of the African Nations in Cameroon

The Comoros national team is heading to enter the history of the African Nations Cup by playing the final price against Cameroon in its first participation in the tournament, in a match that will witness a rare event classified as part of a series of oddities in the tournament hosted by Cameroon.

The Comoros national team will be facing a great challenge against the organizing country, in light of the harsh conditions imposed by the outbreak of the Corona virus in the team’s ranks.

The team will be deprived of a large number of its players due to the virus, but the most prominent absences will include goalkeepers.

And the first guard, Salem Bin Buena, had suffered a serious shoulder injury, while the other two guards, Ali Ahmeda and Muayyad Osini, entered self-isolation last week, after it was confirmed that they were infected with Corona.

Although officials from the national team confirmed today, Monday, that the result of the “Covid-19” test for goalkeeper Ali Ahmed was negative and he will be available to participate in today’s match, media reports confirmed that the matter is conditional on obtaining an exceptional license from the organizing committee of the tournament, because the approved laws require the isolation of any He was injured for 5 days before he was allowed to participate again, a period that the goalkeeper, Ahmeda, has not exhausted.

And when this license is not obtained, the Comoros team will have to rely on one of the players in the goalkeeping position in the most important match in its football history.

And Jean-Daniel Padovani, the coach of Comoros goalkeepers, said in a press conference yesterday, without revealing the identity of the player, “We have already chosen one of the players to guard the goal. The player showed during the training his ability to play as a goalkeeper.”

There will be no reserve goalkeeper on the bench for the Comoros Islands for Monday’s match.

Comoros coach Amir Abdo is still in quarantine, and will watch the match from his hotel room.

Abdo was the reason for the development of this team, which qualified for the final price, contrary to all expectations, after its sudden victory over Ghana 3-2.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set strict rules regarding “Covid-19” in the Nations Cup finals.

If a player’s test result is positive, he will not be allowed to go to the field or participate in the match, while each team must play as long as it has at least 11 players. When no goalkeeper is available, another player must take his place.
