Hamas vows to force the occupation to complete the prisoner exchange deal

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) confirmed that “the resistance will compel the occupation to complete a prisoner exchange deal,” noting that most mediators have become convinced that Israel is not serious “in completing the exchange deal at this stage.”

In a televised interview published by Hamas’ official website on Tuesday, Zaher Jabarin, a member of the movement’s political bureau, said, “The resistance provided a clear framework for mediators, but the occupation put all these efforts in jeopardy,” adding that “the Zionist political level is not serious about completing a prisoner exchange deal.”

Jabareen explained that “many mediators intervened to discuss the exchange deal, including Swiss, Qataris, Turks, Egyptians, Norwegians and Germans, but most of them reached the conviction that the occupation is not serious about completing a deal at this stage.”

He added that Hamas “speaks to all countries and human rights institutions that Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons are a red line, and that our people, with its components and with all methods of resistance, unite behind them,” stressing that the resistance will “force” the occupation to complete a prisoner exchange deal.

It is noteworthy that Hamas keeps 4 Israelis in the Gaza Strip without disclosing their fate. They are two soldiers who were captured during the Israeli war on Gaza in the summer of 2014, while two others entered the Strip in mysterious circumstances.

And the number of Palestinian prisoners in the prisons of the Israeli occupation until the end of December 2021 reached about 4,600, including about 600 patients, according to Palestinian institutions concerned with prisoner affairs.
