Founded in Blaubeuren, Württemberg Bilobit GmbH has been offering IT security and network solutions for medium-sized companies, banks and municipal institutions since 2010. On October 1, 2021, Bilobit is part of the SMTnet Data Communications GmbH from Oberndorf am Neckar.
The Swabian company has specialized in managed services and server infrastructures and is pleased about the newcomer from Baden. Because there are many similarities between the two companies and at the same time they complement each other very well.
The core topics that are being worked on together now include:
According to SMTnet, the company headquarters in Blaubeuren and the Bilobit brand should also be retained. Because the Swabian IT service provider is very familiar with takeovers: Founded in 1997 as an external IT service provider, SMTnet won the care company BeneVit as a customer in 2004. In 2017, the IT service provider was looking for a reliable partner he wanted and finally found him in the BeneVit. A year later, in 2018, SMTnet joined the BeneVit Group (2,000 employees).
After this experience, Raphael Gfrörer, IT manager at SMTnet, is confident about the Bilobit integration: “Something is simply growing together organically here.” This impression is also shared by BeneVit Managing Director Kaspar Pfister, who got along very well with Bilobit Managing Director Martin Schmuker right away. Family similarities were already found at the first meeting: “Schmucker told me that his grandfather, like my family, comes from Burladingen. And it quickly turned out that I was already a member of the municipal council with his grandfather,” remembers Pfister.

M&A consultant Mike Bergmann, who accompanied the takeover of Belobit by SMTnet, also finds good reasons for this acquisition: “Bilobit employs specialists throughout Germany on topics such as IT security and sophisticated networks company acquisition in this area will now be even better positioned for the future than before”.
In 2022, SMTnet wants to expand further within the BeneVit Group: Raphael Gfrörer’s 20-strong IT team will move into a new building in Mössingen, 50 kilometers from Oberndorf. There is the main location of BeneVit.
