Amnesty accuses Iran of torturing a sick prisoner and depriving him of health care
Amnesty International said that the Iranian Kurdish prisoner Kamal Sharifi, “unjustly imprisoned since 2008,” has been suffering torture and has been denied access to health care for years.
She stressed that Sharifi is suffering from irreparable damage to his health, and faces risks to his life due to the deliberate deprivation for long periods of adequate specialized medical care for his heart disease and other health problems.
The officials also deprived him, according to the human rights organization, of family visits for nearly 14 years, and this caused him psychological disturbances.
She indicated that due to his ill health, he is at risk of death or severe illness if he contracts “Covid-19” in prison.
