A missile attack on Baghdad airport hits a civilian plane

Iraqi security sources reported that at least 6 missiles fell at dawn today, Friday, on Baghdad International Airport, west of the capital, Baghdad, and caused damage to the structure of one of the civilian aircraft stationed at the airport.

The source added that all the missiles fell in the runway area and areas close to the civilian side at Baghdad Airport, and that the US missile defense system was activated to repel the attack.

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Baghdad stated that the attack on the airport was carried out by 6 missiles launched from one launch pad, with 4 other missiles malfunctioning, adding that it was the first time in years that a missile attack targeted the civilian part of Baghdad Airport, according to what security sources said to Al-Jazeera.
