Manchester United stars leave Greenwood after accusation of rape and assault

The Manchester United stars have stopped following teammate Mason Greenwood on social media, after he was arrested over allegations of rape and assault.

Among those stars who have stopped following Greenwood on Instagram are David de Gea, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Fred and Jesse Lingard.

Team captain Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and 16 team members – so far – have maintained their support for the young striker who was at the center of shocking allegations that he attacked an 18-year-old student.

Greenwood, 20, was questioned yesterday evening by police and kept in custody early Monday after horrific photos and audio clips were posted on social media.

On Sunday, Greater Manchester Police announced the arrest of Greenwood, accused of assaulting and raping his girlfriend Harriet Robson.

In an official statement, the police said: “Manchester Police became aware early today of the existence of photographs posted by a woman reporting that she had been physically assaulted, and as a result the perpetrator of these assaults was arrested, for the offenses of rape and assault.”

On Sunday morning, Greenwood’s ex-girlfriend published videos and pictures on the social networking site “Instagram” showing blood on her face and other places of her body, in addition to her being physically assaulted, as she claimed that the Manchester United player was the one who caused these injuries.

And the England international – who earns 75,000 pounds per week ($ 100,000) – was suspended by “Al Mano” until further notice.

The incident caused great anger in the English street in sympathy for Harriet Robson, which prompted Manchester United to issue an official statement confirming that Greenwood “will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”

“We are aware of the images and allegations circulating on social media,” the statement said.

“We will not have any further comment on the matter until the facts are established,” the statement added. “Manchester United will not condone violence in any form.”

Born in Bradford in October 2001, Greenwood joined the famous Manchester United academy at the age of six, hoping to follow in the footsteps of former alumni such as David Beckham and Paul Scholes, having attracted attention by scoring 10 goals in his debut with the youth team. .

In March 2019, he became the youngest player to play with the “Red Devils” in the European Champions League, and he was 17 years old at the time.

Greenwood scored 35 goals in 129 games with Old Trafford, and wears the number “11” shirt that was worn by former captain Ryan Giggs, who ironically faces accusations of assaulting two women.

Giggs, 47, is accused of physically assaulting a woman in her thirties and a woman in her twenties between 2017 and 2020.
