You couldn’t really celebrate due to the pandemic, but the big birthday party should take place in the summer of 2022, that promised Cancom-CEO Rudi Hotter.
Cancom was founded on January 27, 1992 by students Klaus Weinmann, Stefan and Raymond Kober. They just wanted to earn something extra alongside their studies. 30 years later, the IT service provider has a turnover of 1.65 billion euros (2020) and is currently Germany’s fourth-largest system house with domestic sales of 1.4 billion euros (2020).
Rudolf Hotter joined Cancom in 2005 – through the takeover of ECS ComputerPartner GmbH. He became Cancom’s COO (Chief Operating Officer) and in February 2020 the head of the system house (CEO: Chief Executive Officer). Thomas Volk previously held this post after Klaus Weinmann left Cancom’s board of directors at the end of September 2018 to focus more on the private venture capital firm Primepulse.
The company founder looks back on the past 30 years with pride: “As early as 1992, we correctly anticipated developments on the IT market and knew what our customers needed. We have always been one step ahead of digitization,” says Weinmann. “The transformation of the system house from a student company to the leading digitization and business partner of companies, organizations and the public sector is unique in my opinion.”
And the current Cancom CEO is optimistic about the future: “What we have created together over the past 30 years is a very good starting point for a continued successful future,” says Rudolf Hotter. His goal is to make Cancom the number 1 hybrid IT service provider in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) by 2025.
The birthday party should definitely be rescheduled: “Since the current situation unfortunately does not allow any events at our locations with all employees, we will probably postpone them to the summer months,” the CEO continued. “We’ve always loved to celebrate. We’ll find a suitable time, I’m very sure of that.”
