The sum of the maximum sentences in it reaches 100 years .. The trial of the leader of Myanmar Sochi next month

A source familiar with the matter said on Monday that a Myanmar court will begin the trial of ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi on February 14, alleging election fraud after she was accused of influencing the 2020 elections to win a second term.

And Reuters news agency quoted a source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue, that Sochi, 76, the Nobel Peace Prize winner is accused of influencing the electoral commission at the time of the poll, and the former president and her ally Win Myint and former cabinet member Min Tho face the same accusation.

The three face three years in prison and a fine if found guilty. This is in addition to another set of lawsuits against Sochi, which have combined maximum sentences of more than 100 years.

Sochi was arrested hours before the February 1 coup of last year, and critics of the ruling military council say the accusations against her were trumped up to ensure that she does not return to political life.

The Myanmar military seized power, arresting the civilian head of government and a group of officials, sparking violence across most of the country.
