Yemen..Houthis talk about targeting an Emirati field operations room in Shabwa with a ballistic missile

Today, Tuesday, the Houthi group announced that it had targeted, with a ballistic missile, what it described as a field operations room belonging to the Emirates, which runs operations in Shabwa Governorate (southeast of Yemen), at a time when the coalition aircraft continued to target the Houthis.

The military spokesman for the Houthis, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said – in a tweet on Twitter – that the missile hit the target accurately, which resulted in the death and injury of a large number of people, including Emiratis, as he put it.

According to Houthi media, this missile strike is the third of its kind within 3 days, targeting Emirati-backed forces in Shabwa governorate.

Last Saturday, the Houthi military spokesman announced the bombing of a large gathering of forces loyal to the UAE in the Usaylan Shabwa district with a ballistic missile. At the time, he spoke of the killing and wounding of 40 people in the ranks of those forces.

However, the UAE-backed “Giant Brigades” confirmed – the evening before yesterday, Sunday – that the missile hit a mosque in the Al-Safa area in the Usaylan district of Shabwa, killing 4 civilians and wounding 5 others.

The Houthi missile attacks came after they were expelled by the “Giant Brigades” from the Usaylan and Baihan districts in Shabwa governorate, as well as from areas south of the neighboring Marib governorate.

coalition raids

On the ground as well, Houthi media said that coalition warplanes launched – on Monday night – raids on several sites in Sanaa and its suburbs.

She added that some of the raids targeted the old radio station in the Al-Hasaba area, in the middle of residential neighborhoods, while the raid targeted the vicinity of the TV building in Al-Thawra City.

And the Saudi-led coalition said – yesterday, Monday – that it had carried out 18 targeting operations against the Houthis in the governorates of Ma’rib and Taiz, stressing that the operations resulted in the killing of Houthi militants and the destruction of a number of their vehicles.

In contrast to the recent Houthi escalation by targeting the UAE and areas in Saudi Arabia with ballistic missiles and drones, the coalition intensified its operations against the group’s militants in several areas, including Sanaa, Saada and Marib.

humanitarian situation

On the other hand, Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdul Malik discussed – yesterday, Monday – with the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, David Grisley, issues related to the humanitarian situation in the country.

The Yemeni news agency quoted the Prime Minister’s office as saying that the meeting discussed what he described as the artificial obstacles that the Houthi group puts in front of humanitarian organizations.

The agency also said that the humanitarian response plan for the year was reviewed and the necessary funding was mobilized for its implementation, according to urgent priorities.

These talks come at a time when the United Nations has repeatedly warned of the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the continuation of the war.
